In an interview with waves republished in the China Academy back in mid 2024, deep seeks founder Liang made his ambitions clear. He said, quote, for years, Chinese companies have been accustomed to leveraging technological innovations, developed somewhere else and monetizing them through applications. But this isn’t sustainable this time. Our goal isn’t quick profits, but advancing the technological frontier to drive ecosystem growth. Why is Silicon Valley so innovative? Because they dare to try. When chat GPT debuted China lacked confidence in frontier research from investors to major tech firms, many felt the gap was too wide and focused instead on applications. But innovation requires confidence and young people tend to have more of it. End quote.

I’m Professor Singer, your guide on this exciting journey of discovery and creativity. Together, we’ll now explore more topics on how to think differently, solve challenges, and turn ideas into impactful solutions. Let’s now deep dive into the heart of innovation.
Hello everybody. I’m Professor Singer from Farka Invention Academy. Welcome to today’s exciting session on embracing AI as a friend, not a foe. Now, before we begin, let me ask you something. How many of you think AI is taking over human jobs? Hmm. I see some hesitant hands going up. Well, let’s unpack this together. Artificial intelligence might sound futuristic, but trust me, it’s already helping us in ways we might not even notice. Just imagine you have a robot friend who helps you sort information, find patterns, and even suggest solutions. That’s AI for you.
Let’s break this system. I can process large amounts of data faster than humans. It recognizes patterns that we often overlook. It suggests solutions based on insights from data. But, and this is a big, but, uh, I cannot replace human intuition, emotions, or cultural understanding. You see, um, I might suggest a song melody, but it takes a human heart to turn it into music that stirs the soul. Let’s talk about music. African artists are using AI to explore new sound combinations, but here’s the catch, uh, and doesn’t compose music. It merely suggests ideas.
The final touch, the emotion, and the cultural nuances. That’s all human take. For example, a Nigerian singer sim, she combines traditional African beats with AI generated soundscapes, creating a fusion of past and future. Pretty amazing, right? So should, should artists be afraid of ai? No, they should be collaborating with it. Now, imagine you’re designing a new chair instead of sketching 100 different versions. What if an AI tool could generate options for you in seconds? That’s exactly what designers do today.
Uh, I helps generate multiple design choices. It optimizes materials for strength and cost. It saves time by handling calculations. But, and let’s repeat this. Who makes the final decision? The human designer. AI is simply a thinking partner, not a replacement. Alright, let’s make this personal. I want each of you to think about an AI tool related to your interests. A writing assistant, if you love storytelling, a design program, if you’re into art, a data analysis tool, if numbers excite you, how can this tool help me? What ideas can I develop using this tool? Write down your thoughts and let’s discuss in the comments.
The world of technology is constantly evolving. The best way to stay ahead, keep learning. Here’s how and webinars, they’re full of useful insights. Join innovation communities. Creativity thrives in groups. Follow tech news. Stay informed about emerging tools. In fact, some of the best entrepreneurs today didn’t just learn one skill. They adapted, evolved, and stayed open to new ideas. That’s what makes an innovator. I want you to, new technology or skill you can learn this month. How will you use it to innovate in your field? Write it down. Small steps lead to big innovations.
Remember, a cave is here to enhance creativity, not replace it, human input, your intuition, your culture, your ideas are irreplaceable. Keep learning, keep exploring, and most importantly, keep innovating. Your ideas matter. You have the power to create change. So go out there and embrace a EI as your creative partner. Thank you for joining me today. I can’t wait to see what you create next, so keep exploring and innovating.
Hi there and welcome. I’m so glad you are here because today’s story is one you won’t want to miss. It’s full of inspiration, creativity, and a few surprises along the way. So grab a seat, get comfortable, and let’s dive in. Enjoy the story. Welcome friends to the Invention library. The fire crackles and the room buzzes with anticipation as we gather, just as our ancestors did. To share stories that inspire tonight’s tale reflects the legacy celebrated in Professor Ko Singer’s Spring 2050 lecture series, the remarkable journey of Kenya’s AKA Invention Academy. Settle in and let the glow of this fire and the brilliance of young inventors spark your imagination. The screen is ready and so are we. Let’s begin.
Let me tell you a story. I’ll call it the Klans leader and the AI apprentice. The wind rustled through the acacia trees as the apprentices of Thora Invention Academy gathered in the central courtyard. Today was a special day professor, singer, and Miriam had announced a challenge, unlike any before, the world is changing, professor Singer began his voice filled with excitement. We stand on the edge of a new frontier, one where AI is not a rival, but a creative partner. Miriam stepped forward. We’ve given you access to an advanced AI tool.
She said tapping on her tablet, NKU. This supercomputer is an artificial intelligence based server. As such, they have both come into online contact with many young people like you, and have created Invention School to bring the young and highly gifted ones like you into the process of inventing for a new future. Do you understand this server is extremely secure because there are still too many people who only want to dominate and exploit regardless of who is harmed. We’ve certainly had enough of that. Your task is to enhance the functionality of the clans leader, the device that allows us to communicate with the clan, the sent creatures of the animal kingdom. We’ve developed several prototypes, especially tuned to specific species. Here are some of them.
Several days ago, Kat Leg osi, our artificial intelligence specialist, showed non kko. Our clans later master server said Miriam, a murmur of curiosity spread among the apprentices. The clans later had already revolutionized their ability to decipher neur pulses from animals. But ai, how could it push their work even further? Kofi, the visionary engineer, leaned over to Atsu, the AI prodigy. This is your field. Where do we start? Atsu smirked his fingers already flying over his laptop. We trained the AI to recognize deeper patterns in the neural pulses. Then correlate them with behaviors and emotional cues.
Mea the sustainability champion nodded thoughtfully. That means we’ll need data, lots of it. Different species, different contexts. Malcolm, the do it yourself innovator clapped his hands. Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s refine this thing. The apprentices split into teams each tackling a crucial aspect of the problem. Charles, the music tech genius, proposed using AI driven sound modulation to mimic the frequencies of the clan. If we can replicate their communication style, maybe we can respond in a way they understand. He explained Lily, the Hacktivist engineer worked on cybersecurity protocols to protect the AI from tampering. While Brianna, the materials innovator optimized the sensors to detect even the subtlest neural pulses.
As the days passed, the AI enhanced clans later evolved. It processed vast amounts of data, recognizing patterns invisible to the human eye. It suggested possible translations of bird songs, elephant rumbles, and even the subtle vibrations of insects. One evening, as the apprentices tested their device near the academy’s forested edge, they noticed something incredible. A group of elephants stood nearby, seemingly communicating among themselves. The clans leader interpreted their signals and displayed them on the screen, danger, water scarce. Moving East. Miriam’s eyes widen. They’re warning each other about drought conditions.
Ko, the social engineer, saw the potential immediately. If we can refine this, we can help conservationists to track migration patterns and understand environmental changes. The next morning, the apprentices presented their findings. Professor Singer beamed with pride. You see, AI isn’t here to replace us. It’s here to enhance our abilities to open doors we never knew existed. The AI powered clans leader became a breakthrough tool, bridging the gap between species and proving that innovation thrives. When technology and human creativity worked together, the apprentices had not just learned to use ai. They had learned to trust their own genius, knowing that the future was theirs to shape.
Alright, let’s kick off this deep dive. We’re tackling a question that seems to be on everyone’s mind these days. Can AI actually make us more creative? And you know, our listeners have sent in some seriously fascinating stuff for us to dig into. We’ve got professor singer’s lecture, script, some info on that, AKA Invention Academy and hold on. Big story about a device that lets people talk to animals. I know, right? It sounds straight out of sci-fi, but it actually connects to a bigger idea that keeps popping. I, I as a partner in creativity, not just some job stealing robot overload.
Totally. And I really emphasize that point. AI is a tool, not a threat. Okay, I get that in theory, but what does that actually look like in practice? Could AI really help us brainstorm, come up with fresh ideas or even get unstuck when we are feeling creatively blocked? Imagine having a research assistant who can analyze mountains of data in seconds, spot patterns our brains might miss, and then suggest different solutions based on what it learns. So I is like a brainstorming partner on steroids? Yeah, something like that. But the key is it’s still us driving the creative process. Think of a musician using AI to create a melody.
The AI might come up with some cool chord progressions or rhythms, but it’s the musician who adds the emotion, the soul, the human touch that makes it music. Got it. So it’s more like AI gives us the building blocks and we get to be the architects. And there’s a perfect example in my lecture, the Nigerian Sing Simi. She uses I to create these really unique soundscapes, but her music is still deeply rooted in traditional African rhythms and melodies. So it’s not just about AI creating something totally new, but also about using it to reimagine and even preserve what we already have. That’s exactly it.
And speaking of new and exciting. Yes. Jumping to this Klan’s later story. Yes, Please. It takes place at the Theca Invention Academy, which seems like a breeding ground for all kinds of out there ideas. Their teaching method is fascinating too. They use storytelling to make concepts stick, which is something supported by that Harvard Business Review article. We got narratives really help with learning and memory. I can see why they’d use the translator story then. Yeah. It’s like a case study in how to tackle complex challenge with a mix of human creativity. Exactly. So remind me, what’s the core challenge they’re trying to solve with this translator?
The big goal is to enhance the translator. A device that’s supposed to allow humans to communicate with animals using a communicate with animals as in actually understand what they’re thinking and feeling. That’s the idea. Sounds pretty mind blowing, right? It does. But how does it actually work, practically speaking? Well, the clans later picks up on the electrical signals in an animal’s brain, their neuro pulses, and then tries to decode them. So it’s reading the brainwaves. So the AI is helping make sense of that brainwave data. Exactly. The apprentices in the story are using AI to analyze those neural pulses, looking for patterns that match up with different behaviors, emotions, even thoughts. It’s like they’re teaching the AI to speak animal.
And the story mentions different teams focusing on different parts of the clans later, right? Yes. Chelsea’s trying to use sound modulation to create sounds that mimic animal communication. Wait, what exactly sound modulation? It’s basically using AI to manipulate pitch tone and rhythm to make sounds similar to how animals communicate, like an AI voice changer, but for animal calls, not human voices. So he’s essentially teaching the translator to speak animal. That’s amazing. What about the other teams? We’ve got Lily who’s handling cybersecurity to ensure the AI system can’t be hacked. And Brianna, who’s improving the clans later sensors. The better the sensor data, the better the AI can do its job.
That each coming at it from a different angle, but it’s all connected. That’s right. Think of them as different puzzle pieces and I is the glue holding it together. But the key takeaway is it’s still the humans who are asking the questions, driving the innovation, pushing the limits of what’s possible. Makes sense. The AI might be crunching the data, but it needs human ingenuity to point it in the right direction. So what happens when they actually take this cleanse later out into the real world? They head out to an area known for its elephant population and the cleanse later picks up signals that seem to show the elephants are worried about drought.
Whoa. Seriously? They can tell that from brainwaves. That’s incredible. Makes you wonder what other impossible things we could do with ai. Exactly What other connections we could make. And it all circles back to my point about continuous learning. We need to stay curious. Keep learning. Because AI is changing so fast, We are not just passengers. We can actually shape how a AI develops and how it’s Absolutely one way is by focusing on real world applications, not just theory. I challenge my students to pick an AI tool that interests them and explore how it could help them generate new ideas. So it’s about getting hands-on actually doing something with this knowledge, not just reading Totally. It’s something we can all do no matter our background.
We can find ways to bring AI into our work, our creative projects, everything. All right, let’s put that into practice. Remember the question you asked earlier about finding an AI tool you could use? They didn’t know exactly what they were going to create at the start, but they had a goal, resources and they were willing to try things out And they each focused on their strengths. Charles with sound modulation, Lily with cybersecurity, Brianna with sensor tech. It’s a good reminder of how important collaboration is for innovation, not just between people, but also between humans and ai. One of the most exciting things about this conversation is the potential for us to work with AI to combine our strengths and do things we never thought possible.
We’ve talked about a lot of the amazing possibilities, but let’s get real for a minute. Are there downsides to using AI this way? Anything we should be cautious about? It is a tool and like any tool, it can be used for good or bad. It all comes down to human intention. Think about the clans later. It could help us understand animals like never before, but someone could use it to exploit animals or control them. That’s a scary thought. So how do we ensure AI is being used ethically? Transparency. We have to understand how these AI systems work, what data they’re using to learn and how they make decisions.
We can’t just blindly trust the tech, Right? And that means education. People need awareness of how AI is developed and how it affects society. I talk a lot about continuous learning, not just for technical skills, but for understanding a’s bigger impact. He also makes a good point about conversation between experts and the public. We can’t have scientists developing AI in a bubble. We need to discuss the ethical side, ensure a aligns with human values. It’s a reflection of us after all. That’s why each of us has a role. We can’t wait for the government or tech companies to figure it all out. We can all shape how AI develops.
Exactly. You remind your students to consider how their work impacts society, even if it seems small. Tiny innovations can cause big ripple relief. It’s about looking beyond what’s right in front of us and considering the bigger picture. That requires critical thinking, which I emphasize a lot. I encourage students to question everything and look at different perspectives, And that often means learning about stuff outside your may area of study. Mm-hmm. The most creative solutions often come from combining different fields. It’s something we can all benefit from. The more we learn about different ideas and approaches, the more creative we can be.
The more we learn, the more we realize how much we don’t know. That sense of wonder drives innovation. It’s what I try to instill in my students. It’s not just about mastering technical stuff, but having that curiosity and willingness to embrace what you don’t know. Staying hungry, right? Always looking for new information, new challenges, new ways of seeing the world, because AI is changing all the time. Today’s cutting edge might be all news tomorrow. We have to adapt, stay curious, and keep learning. Exactly. Before we move into our final segment, let’s pause and reflect on everything we’ve covered.
We’ve looked at how AI can boost human creativity, examine ethical considerations and stress, the importance of continuous learning. We’ve seen some incredible examples like Siemens music and the Klan later, And we’ve asked everyone listening to think about how they might use AI in their own lives. Now, in our last part, we’ll dive into some practical things you can do to learn more about ai. Make the most of it. I first hold onto the question, what part of this conversation has really stuck with you so far, and what new ideas has it sparked? That’s key. As we move forward And we back for the final part of our AA deep dive, we’ve come a long way.
We started with AI as something big and mysterious, and now we’re talking about real life applications from making art to even talking to animals, And we’ve been urging you to think about how AI could fit into your own creative life. But I bet some of you are thinking, okay, that’s amazing, but where do I even start? Exactly. It can be overwhelming. I mentioned workshops following tech news, but is there something more concrete people can do to really understand this stuff? Plenty of online courses break down a concepts into manageable chunks. You don’t have to go back to university. There are also podcasts, books, and basic tutorials that let you dip your toes in without needing advanced math or codings.
And don’t overlook simply experimenting. A lot of AI platforms have free trials or basic versions. You can play with image generation, text analysis or music composition without being computer science expert. It’s all about demystifying AI by actually interacting with it. For those who aren’t tech savvy, just keep an eye on how AI is popping up in your field. Whether you’re a teacher, a designer, or an entrepreneur, read up on industry specific use cases. Join webinars and learn from communities. Exploring those applications So it’s less about becoming a programmer overnight and more about staying curious and open-minded.
AI won’t be slowing down something groundbreaking today could be standard tomorrow. We have to stay adaptable, keep learning, keep experimenting. As you often say, stay hungry, right? That’s right Miriam, and as you learn about ai, remember our key points. AI is powerful, but it’s in our hands to guide it ethically. It all comes back to the fundamentals, human ingenuity, awareness of the ethical dimension and collaboration. We shape what I becomes, whether we are artists, business owners, teachers, or just curious individuals. We each have a role to play. As we wrap up, I want to leave you with this.
Don’t be afraid to jump in and explore. The AI world is full of incredible possibilities and who knows what we can discover together. Keep learning, keep asking questions, and keep creating. That’s the heart of it all. Thank you for listening, professor, singer and Miriam Asante sana for joining us today. Stay curious, stay adaptable, and never stop learning. That’s what makes this journey so exciting.
